Peter Basch
German-born Peter Basch was the son of Austrian parents, who were both prolific figures in the German film industry. He was educated in England, then Los Angeles when his parents moved to America in the 1930’s. Through his parents, he found connections in the film industry and became the assistant to a great portrait photographer of the time, Laszlo Willinger. In 1945 Peter Basch moved to New York, taking his training and background with him, he soon became one of the foremost magazine photographers.
